(104) contactos y ratas

ahhhhh time is flying by and it's terrifying

well halfway through this transfer, and it has been night and day. we have focused so much on getting really quality lessons and contacts, and really focusing on the people here and not worrying about numbers. so that's been really great the past couple of weeks, but this week we finally met all of our higher goals and we felt so good about every one of them. I LOVE it here, especially with my companions. the ward will be splitting within the next two weeks, so we will get a new bishop soon and I think it will be really good for the ward to get some change and get things moving.

some things I've learned this week:
1. peanut butter and nutella oatmeal is the best thing that has ever happen to breakfast, thank you sis voyles
2. srarchia (how do you spell that? I have no idea...) whatever it is hot sauce tastes good on everything
3. everyone sells guava juice and it makes me SO HAPPY

also the adventure for the week was saturday morning we went down to the chapel to help hna lopez clean our the young women's closet that had not been touched in YEARS. like at least a decade. it was so bad. just packed with junk. she told us that there was a mouse in there, so we were prepared, so when tiffany turned on the vaccuum and started vaccuming up mouse poop from the shelves it peeked its head out from the bottom and, naturally, chaos ensued. hna lopez and tiffany start screaaaaming, I start laughing, and then hna lopez started trying to kill it so I was out of there (I saw it's face, it was so cute, I couldn't watch), as was tiffany, and hna anderson ran around the corner and stood on a chair. hna santidrian was the brave one who helped kill it. the poor blossom valley ward relief society was crafting in the gym, apparently oblivious to the terrorized screams coming from the hallway. they ended up killing it and we took two giant trash bags to the dumpster and the closet looks glorious now.

but the good news this week, one of the investigator's we've been working with for a while that we lost contact with is back! so we talked to him and asked him all of the baptismal interview questions, and he is ready! he's giving himself a month to make sure he can live all of the commandments after baptism so we will be working with him and checking up on his progress this month. but I am so happy for him! we weren't able to get anyone else to church but that's our goal for the week, to get especially two in particular to come, one just has to change her work schedule. but the work is definitely progressing! this week was amazing!

thanks for all of the emails and letters, keep 'em coming. love you all, have a fantastic week!!

(98) sala de emergencias

yep so this week was super exciting. definitely spent all friday night in the emergency room. hermana anderson was having some abdominal pain but kind of dismissed it so we didn't really worry about it until thursday night, she really wasn't feeling good (and her admitting it was a big deal) so we retired early to get some studying done and the nurse told her to just call if it worsened. so friday morning rolls around and hna anderson is all "no, no I'm fine, let's go to work" so we got a few hours of service at goodwill, and went to visit a family downtown. halfway through the lesson her face just drained of color so we did the whole hand-signal irnos/time to go, "we really need to go, thank you" which the family interprets as "no, no, please feed us" so after a couple of bites of watermelon hna anderson looks like she is going to pass out. so we finally had to say "no really, she it's feeling well" "we have to go to the HOSPITAL. HOSPITAL" so we finally got out of there (yeah when the white handbook says no lesson more than 40 minutes? they weren't in the spanish program. we are lucky to get out of anywhere under an hour)

so we headed off to the ER and our wonderful zone leaders came and waited with us in the lobby, and it took forever (of course) to get her all checked in and by that time her pain had worsened and it took them an hour to get pain meds in....so four hours later she finally got diagnosed with a kidney stone. which she had had for who knows how many days. so we got checked out at 11 pmand had to get a prescription....so we might have had to go to dennys at midnight (president's orders, I promise) since we had had cookies for dinner.

so saturday we spent at home but hna anderson was all ready to go to church on sunday, crazy girl. on vicodin and everything. unfortunately none of our investigators showed up, despite the numerous phone calls/texts/visits/stopping by their house that morning/pleading on our knees to JUST COME TO CHUUURCH but that's okay. it'll happen. so no one is progressing since no one is coming to church. but a couple less actives showed up, yay! and despite our crazy weekend we still got 5 out of the 6 baptismal invites in our zone haha. but we are trying to work harder and be more focused and healthy and all of that. With any luck we will have a NORMAL week here soon!

also, I like how i'm hitting day 100 this week and i'm still not in brazil...awkward. maybe I should change the blog to 500 days of limbo
just kidding
(but really) I heard from the travel office with my own ears this morning that none of our visas are in, but honestly I am having a blast here and I love speaking spanish, and que sera, sera. c'est la vie!

(90) hasta ver

okay, crazy week.

entonces. long story short, me and hna Santidrian are staying in Los Alamitos A and hna Nielsen and her new companion hna Hyatt are working to open the new Saratoga Stake San Tomas branch that is opening next transfer. which we of course found out in the middle of transfer meeting, but I guess that's normal around here. so there will be five sisters and two elders in one ward for this transfer. so we spent all of tuesday figuring things out between the hnas, but for now they are just going to visit a few of our families so they still have some work here. our companionship got moved to another district, which is really fun. we are with cherry glen and dry creek wards, and the samoan sisters! sadly, sister williams got moved out to santa cruz, but now we can all go visit her on weekends. we have a new elder, elder lopez in our ward and a couple new sisters in our zone, but most other things are staying the same.

but thursday we got to pick up our new companion, sister anderson from orem utah! she is AMAZING. her spanish is already incredible and she was totally ready to go straight to work. so far the biggest problem we have is that we're all too accomodating and it takes five minutes for us to decide who wants to take a shower first, it's like a stoplight in eugene. "no you go" "no you" "go ahead". haha. but we had awesome lessons, really quality contacts, and we've had the spirit with us all week.

my favorite experience this week was last wednesday with hna santidrian, it was our first day and we went to go visit some referrals, and one of their sons answered the door. as soon as he opened the door I just knew he was prepared and was ready to hear our message, we got to teach him a little about the book of mormon and share a prayer with him and left him with a copy, it was so awesome. unfortunately it was in english so we might have to hand him over to the english elders, and he is hard to track down, but if his mom wants to listen and come to our ward in spanish with him, maybe we can still teach him!

so a lot is going on and we have SO much work to do but I've never been more confident in our companionship and I know we can do it. so i'm really excited for this transfer! Plus we got a brand new car (her name is Nala, since Hna Nielsen took Simba) and aside from a few REALLY FRUSTRATING encounters with the new gps (zazu), we are doing well!

AND NATALIE CHERIE HARMAN I BELIEVE SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT IS HAPPENING THIS WEEK AHEM I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT IT THAT IS ALL PAIGE LAUREN WHITNEY YOU TOO PICTURES PLEASE KTHX

thank you all so much for your prayers, I will be praying for all of you, especially grandpa, I love you! I hope everything gets figured out soon but please let me know how it all goes.
